A 100 Word Fiction Challenge

Miranda scooted into the driver’s seat. Her body shook. Sitting in the car on the highway at night rattled her nerves.
Sean said it would only take him a minute to check what was on the road.
She glimpsed his cellphone on the dashboard. Great.
Who told me to watch all those scary movies?
She gripped the steering wheel.
What is that, a spider?
She edged away from it.
The door swung open.
“Ahhhhhh!” she stepped on the gas.
Sean yelped, hanging onto the door.
Miranda slammed on the break. “Sorry!”
“Chill, softy.” Sean huffed. “Just a bag.”
Miranda sighed.

As always, happy writing!
Lol my sister has the same reaction to spiders even when she just thinks there’s a spider there lol. Loved the story.
Haha … I know so many people who react that way too. Thanks so much!
Yes, I think spiders is a common fear.
Good story, glad it was only a bag!
Yes! Thanks, Iain. 🙂
Well told and more than a little funny. 🙂
Haha, thanks Bill. 🙂
I can understand her reaction to the spider. Well done.
Thanks, athling. 🙂
But is that still Sean?
Hahaha … it’d better be. 🙂
Good take 🙂
Thanks, poetisatinta. 🙂
Really jumpy, what movies has she been watching?
I Know What You Did Last Summer, Roadkill, The Ring, Chainsaw Massacre … all the movies I’d never watch. 😅
Those horror movies can give you the jitters!
I wholeheartedly agree. This is why I don’t watch them.
All of those bits and pieces were ratcheting up the tension. I’m glad everything turned out ok — unless there is something sinister in the bag! Good story!
Haha. I love that … something sinister in the bag … you’re really good at this writing thing. I’m glad you felt the tension. Thanks so much! 🙂
You’re very welcome, Brit 🙂
Dear Brit,
She certainly let her imagination run away with her. Good one with a sigh of relief and a giggle at the end.
Shalom,
Rochelle
She certainly did, after watching all those scary movies. Thanks, Rochelle.
